Life would be boring without them...

Caleb's Baby Blessing

So I have not been very good at updating this blog lately. But one of our recent events was Caleb's baby blessing. We blessed him in my parents ward along with Chris and Becca who blessed Grace. (Grace is 6 weeks younger than Caleb). We blessed them on January 24. I wish we took more pictures. Especially one of Caleb and Grace together. There just seemed to be so much going on.

It was a fun day though. Church started nice and early at 9 am. It was so sweet to see Cory blessing our baby. I am so grateful to have a husband that can. It was a great blessing and I even got a little teary-eyed. Especially since Cory got a little choked up. He told me afterwards that he didn't close his eyes at all because Caleb just layed there smiling up at him. I wish I had a picture of that! We had a nice little lunch at my parents house and hung out there for a few hours before heading to Cory's parents house. It was a great day and thanks everyone who came and made it special for us!

Caleb is 12 weeks here. He's getting to be such a chunk! He's a little over 14.5 pounds here.

Meet our new little guy..

If you haven't already. Caleb came November 1st at 8:30 pm. Weighing in just under 9 lbs at 8 lbs 15 oz. and 20.5 inches long. We are so excited to have him in our family and can't imagine our lives without him. Cory is the proudest daddy which just goes to show I picked a good one!

Why won't this baby come already??

I'm feeling pretty big, and by everyone's comments... HUGE! This was me 2 weeks ago. And yes, there is definitely only 1 baby in there!

Baby Shower

So I should have blogged about this weeks ago, but here is an update anyways. My mom and sisters threw me a baby shower and it was so much fun! It was mostly family and some close friends which was perfect. Our theme was the poem "What are little boys made of?" We had some great food, played a game, opened gifts and did a little craft. It was lots of fun. Thanks everyone!

Me and Kylie

Me, Alyssa and Aymara

Opening gifts... (take note of the cute blanket Lindsey made me on the chair...)

I got some cute bedding... thanks Julia!

A car seat and stroller! What every baby needs..

Everyone working on the onesies...

The finished products....

Thanks for a great baby shower! I had fun and I think everyone else did too!

A Happy 2 Years...

Cory and I have made it 2 years! It's no surprise to me though, it went fast. Our anniversary was on Sunday (August 23), but we celebrated it on Saturday. It was a pretty low-key anniversary, we celebrated Aymara's birthday as well. We went out to dinner at the Porcupine Grill and Cory and I took our desert to go. We had a romantic desert picnic in the park with a surprise of fireworks. It was a lot of fun. I just love spending time with him and he really is my best friend. I love you Cory!

update on the bump...

Here is a quick update with pictures on my baby bump and a subtle progression...

Me at 12 weeks... just a little bump which probably only I can see...

Me at 18 weeks... definitely popping here..

Me at 25 weeks... it doesn't look like much of a difference from the picture above, but I promise there is one!

But looking at these, I know I need to take more pictures of the belly. I haven't been that great at doing it. But our baby boy is growing strong and seems to be on track. We can't wait for him to come! It's still hard to believe every day that I am pregnant and we are going to have a little boy with us soon. It makes me nervous! Also looking at these pictures I realize, I need a haircut! I've been wanting to do locks of love again because pregnancy makes your hair grow pretty quickly, but I haven't decided on how short to go or what kind of cut. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

summer projects

So for the baby's room, I thought it would be fun to try and reupholster a chair. I found one with great shape to it and just went to town. I had a really hard time picking fabric for the chair because I wasn't sure what direction I wanted to take the room. This one seemed subtle enough, so I hope it works out. The before fabric was a sort of dirty pea green color that kinda smelled funny, and the new fabric is sort of a silvery blue with a small brown print. I love the button tufting on the back and the mostly upholstered arms. It was a little tough to take it apart with the many old staples in it. My least favorite part was probably sanding the arms and legs to re-stain them, but I think they turned out looking pretty good. I had so much fun working on this project. Here are the before and after pics...

Sorry, I know they weren't taken at the same angle so it's a little tough to see. But pretty good for my first time reupholstering a chair, right?

update

Just a quick update.. life has not been too exciting, especially since Cory has been gone. But he gets back Saturday! I am so anxious, I can't wait for the weekend to come. These past 2 and 1/2 months has been a little tough, but definitely not as bad as when he was gone for 7 months when we got engaged.

Anyways.. I have been horrible of taking pictures throughout this pregnancy, but will need to put some up soon. So, pictures to come!

A Little Cory to Come...

So it's a boy! We are so excited to have a little boy coming into our lives. I'm sure I would have been just as happy with a girl though. Here are a few photos from our ultrasound on June 8th. It was so fun to see him! He moves all over the place and opens and closes his mouth like he is talking to us! It was so cute!! Anyways... enjoy!

He kind of looks alien like in this one, but we still love him.

This one is really cool, we got a great shot of the ear which I guess is pretty tough to get.

And here it looks like he is blowing bubbles but it is just the umbilical cord.

Longest 2 1/2 Months Ever...

So we have officially moved from Salt Lake (temporarily). I am staying down at my parents house and Cory is in California for an internship. He has only been gone a week and it feels like so much longer. It will be quite the learning experience with him gone and I already appreciate him so much more! I will try and keep up the blog, but I am not sure how exciting it will be with Cory gone.

So far he loves it out there. He is already trying to convince me that maybe we should move out there when he graduates. He's staying with his grandma and getting fed better than he would be if he were with me. Which he loves. haha. I guess I'll just have to try harder. His commute is a lot better than expected and he really likes the clinic he is in. He has already been able to teach the physical therapist something new and he'll be taking a trip to Yosemite in a few weeks. His summer will definitely be more exciting than mine!

So far, I have just been hanging out with my mom, and if I can't have Cory with me, she's the next best thing! It's been fun. She loves gardening and since I don't have a garden of my own, I just let her talk all about it and give the best design input that I can. We have a few summer projects which I am excited about, so I will keep everyone updated on that. (and also the pregnancy). So I am hoping the next 2 months go by quickly, because this first week definitely felt way to long!

Great Weekend!

We had a great past weekend. On Friday, I spent about 7 hours picking out the upholstery and drapery fabric for the two parade of homes I am working on. After returning back to Salt Lake, Cory and I went to dinner with Chris and Lindsey. Cory loves the Chinese Gourmet buffet place down the street. I am not such a fan, I don't have the stomach for an all-you-can-eat place. But we had fun. We spent the longest time at our table just talking. After dinner we went bowling. It was a lot of fun, but I am horrible.

Also, Lindsey and I are incredible at Deal or No Deal at the arcade. We only got to play once because this lady with a whole cup of coins hogged it the rest of the time!

I still can't believe they are moving to Kansas! I know they'll have an exciting adventure and we'll miss them a lot!!

On Saturday, Cory and I looked around at a few apartments. We aren't quite sure where we'll be at the end of the summer when Cory gets back from his internship. We do like the South Salt Lake and Murray area though, so we'll probably keep it close to here.

Saturday night we went down to Provo and hung out with Julia and Brad. We had pizza and watched the office. We also played with the ferrets. (And when I say we, I mean I watched while everyone else played). I'm ok with touching them and all, I'm just not to the point of playing with them freely. I'll get there though. But it was fun to hang out with them and have a chill night.

Sunday was our last day in our ward. It was sad to say goodbye to my girls in primary. It has been so much fun to teach them, and I have learned a lot along the way. Maggie gave me a cute going away gift for our baby. I have my first books to read to the baby and I am so excited! It was so sweet and thoughtful of her. Thanks Maggie! I'll miss you and Hailey! We then spent the afternoon at my parents house, doing laundry and playing the Wii. It's always fun to get together with family. It will be quite the change when I am living there for a few months instead of just stopping by for the afternoon. But it was such a fun weekend! The next one will not be as exciting because Cory is getting ready for finals and we have some packing to do.

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage....

Then comes an exciting surprise! It is official, Cory and I are definitely having a baby! We went to our 1st doctors appt. yesterday and it was so exciting. We got to see the head and hear the heartbeat of our little one. He checked around for a twin, but as of right now it looks like there is only one. Which is fine with us! I would love to have twins, but I don't think we could handle them first.

I am 12 weeks along and I still can't believe the first trimester is over! It really wasn't that bad, but Cory thinks I am sugar coating it when I tell people that. There was a time when I didn't want to cook anything because then I wouldn't eat it. I didn't want to do dishes because they smelled awful and I just didn't want to move because I felt awful. But when I mean it wasn't that bad, it's because this only lasted about a month and I wasn't throwing up. And compared to other people I know and there first trimesters, that wasn't too bad. haha. But things have been getting so much better lately. I'm excited and nervous for the rest of our pregnancy! I'll post some pictures of my growing belly as the months go on.

Easter

This year we had Easter with my family and had a little easter egg hunt with the neices. It was a lot of fun. Breanne was too quick at it, so next year we'll have to do more eggs and a few harder ones for her. Janey and Claire also really got into it. They especially loved it when opening the eggs and finding the candy inside.

Searching for the eggs...

Finding the candy...

I love spending time with these girls, they are always so much fun! After our Easter egg hunt we had dinner and played games. It was a great Easter and I can't wait for next year!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my Mom's 50th birthday! We had a surprise party for her on Saturday and it was so much fun. We had a great turnout and she was so surprised. Thanks to all my sisters who helped put it on!! She loved it!

So to surprise my mom, I wanted to do something fun and different on her birthday. Especially since I haven't had a very busy life lately. I surprised her by getting tickets to be in the audience of Good Things Utah. (Unfortunately the batteries were dead in my camera so I have no pictures.) But it was so much fun. They had a segment on all of these animals from Sea World, which is odd because none of the animals were water ones. But they had a monkey, a warthog named Kiki, a vulture, another bird (I'm not sure what kind) and two baby porcupines. The porcupines were really cute and kept making these squeaky noises. They were very tempting to pet even though they were prickly. It was a lot of fun!

After Good Things Utah, we did a little shopping and had lunch at Gardner Village. It was so much fun. So Happy Birthday Mom!! Hope you had a great day, because I know I did. Thanks for being a great mom and always being there for me!! I love you!
